History

Beacon Hill was Boston’s first premier residential neighborhood, developed in the late 1700’s.  It is known for its narrow streets, brick sidewalks, and gas-lit streets. The Massachusetts State Capital is located on the top of the Hill.

Beacon Hill has been home to many distinguished individuals, including John Hancock,  Charles Bullfinch (architect), Daniel Webster (politician), John S. Copley (artist), Louisa May Alcott and Sylvia Plath (writers), Robert Frost (poet), and more recently, John Kerry (presidential candidate) and Carly Simon (singer).

The Lincolnshire opened in the 1920’s as a residential hotel for the socialite class of Beacon Hill.  The Raymond Property Company acquired the building in 1984 and recently completed a condominium conversion.  Improvements include restoration of the lobby, upgrading of both elevators, replacement of all windows with historically accurate replacements, restoration of roof obelisks, exterior wall restoration, and the upgrading of all residential units.
